Frank Ervin Cockman, 94, of Portsmouth, Va. passed away Friday, Dec. 9, at a hospital in Fredericksburg, Va. Ervin, as he was known to friends and family, was born in Moore County, N.C. He was a long-time Portsmouth resident, working for years as a barber at Frederick Military Academy and Waterview Barber Shop, where he loved sharing hunting and fishing stories with his customers. He also loved to wear interesting baseball hats to Chesapeake Square Mall, where he swapped stories with other seniors. He was also a fixture at the Portsmouth Boulevard Hardee's, where he ate breakfast daily for over 20 years.

Mr. Cockman is predeceased by his wife, Beatrice. He is survived by his two children. His daughter Grace and her husband Doug Hugo, formerly of Virginia Beach, now reside in Fredericksburg, Va. His son, Michael Cockman, resides in North Carolina. In addition to his two children, Ervin is survived by 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, 4569 Shoulders Hill Road, in Suffolk at 1 p.m.
