Ruby Jane Barnett

Ruby Jane Barnett, 99, of Bluffton, died at 6:21 p.m. Friday, March 4, at her home.
Born in Clark County on Feb. 20, 1906, to Albert and Alma (Phillips) Mahan, her marriage was on April 25, 1927, in Clark County to Wallace W. Barnett, who preceded her in death in 1987.

Mrs. Barnett was a resident of Wells County since 2000. She lived most of her life in the West Newton area and was a homemaker. She was a member of the West Newton United Methodist Church, where she was active in the women's society.

Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Pease of Bluffton; four sons, Marvin of Boswell; David of Longview, Wash.; James of Franklin; and Norris of Rensselaer; two brothers, Robert Mahan of Indianapolis and Chester Mahan of Frankfort; two sisters, Guthra Bayes of Marysville and Myrtle Lawson of Ekron, Ky.; 15 grandchildren, five step grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, five step great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Stanley Mahan, and four sisters, Garnet Barnett, Daisy McDaniel, Nellie Dieterlen and Velma Joyce.

Calling hours are from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Thoma/Rich, Hewitt and Chaney Funeral Home and from 3-8 p.m. Monday at the Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Jones Family Mortuary with Pastor Kenneth Mahan officiating. Burial will be at West Newton Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to Family Hospice of Northeast Indiana or West Newton United Methodist Church.
