Harvey was born Feb. 25, 1946, in Lindale. He was the son of the late Buford Coomer and Dorothy Sikes Coomer. Harvey was the youngest of 10 children and was raised and educated in Tyler. After high school, he joined the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam era. After his tour in the military, Harvey returned to the Tyler area and built a successful business of 40 years as owner and operator of Coomer Masonry. On Oct. 5, 1991, he married the former Patricia May and they made their home in Tyler. Harvey was a member of the American Legion Post No. 12 in Tyler.
He is loved and will be missed by his wife, Patricia, of Tyler; son, William Craig Coomer and wife Saprina of Tyler; grandchildren, Ashley, Caylon, Sissy and J.J.; two great-granddaughters; brothers, Thurman Coomer, Robert Coomer and Nuse Coomer; and sisters, Ruth Huey, Dollie Weems, and Annie Belle Baldwin.
