Betty May Maurer Gold was the fourth of five children of Dewey Jasper Maurer (later changed his name to Marr) and Lois Davidson Maurer. She married Robin Lincoln Gold on 20 June 1945 in Colfax, Washington. They had seven children. They divorced in 1967. Betty raised her seven children alone. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
