Louise was the daughter of Thomas Allen Roquemore of Georgia and Margaret Elizabeth Grooms of South Carolina. The eldest of four children, she was admired by her brothers, John and Tommy, her sister, Edna, and half-brother, Oakley Pratt. She moved to Jacksonville from the Florida Panhandle with her parents in 1914 and attended Eastside and Springfield schools. She worked as a stenographer and a beauty operator before marrying August Michael (Gus) Recker in December 1935.
Her obituary written by her daughter reads: "Born in St. Andrews Bay, Fla., Louise was a resident of the Akron area since 1942. She retired as a salesperson at Polsky's Department Store in 1970 after 14 years service. She was a member of Holy Family Church in Stow, the Stow Home & Garden Club, and a former member of the Stow Women's Club, the American Business Women and the Polsky's Grandmothers Club.
"She is survived by daughters, Margaret (Tom) Benford of Akron, Elizabeth Joan (Irvin) Zigler of Stow; sister, Mrs. Edna Reich of Winter Park, Fla. brother, Ralph A. Roquemore of Jacksonville, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.
"Mass of Christian Burial Friday, 11 a.m., at Holy Family Church in Stow.
"Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery in Jacksonville, Fla. Friends may call at the Hummel Funeral Home, 500 E. Exchange St., Thursday, 2 to 4 and 7 to p.m.
"Memorials may be made to the St. Edward Home. (Hummel, a Golden Rule Funeral Home, 253-6126.)"
