Willard was born in Connellsville, Pennsylvania to the late Byron and Margaret (Layton) Shallenberger and had been a resident of Marion since 1956.

Willard married Janet Marie Fox on April 5, 1947. She preceded him in death Aug. 12, 1994.

He retired from Fisher Body in 1981 as a tool and die maker, where he was known as "Ball Pein Hammer Willie". He was a WWII Army Veteran. Willard loved watching football, playing euchre with his daughters on-line and spending time with his family. Willard dabbled in politics and enjoyed submitting newspaper editorials. He was especially proud of his children, grand children and his three new great grand children.

Survivors include, daughters, Barbara (Larry) Hullinger, Marion, Brenda Collins, Marion, Belinda Johnson, Marion; sons, Kevin Shallenberger, Indianapolis, Eric Shallenberger, Denver, Colo.; sisters, Edna Geary, Penn, Jean Luczka, Penn.; grandchildren, Jennifer Gullion, Jaime Shallenberger, Jason Shallenberger, Angela Collins, Brian Hullinger, Stephanie Shallenberger, Matthew Johnson, Ashley Johnson; great grandchildren, Brayden Collins, Mackenzie Gullion, Madison Gullion.

He was preceded in death by his son, Willard B. Shallenberger, eight brothers and sisters and wife, Janet Marie Shallenberger.
