Nelta Irene McDonald Brock 82 of Amarillo died Friday December 30, 2011.

The family held a private remembrance.

Mrs. Brock was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Bible and church history student, Amarillo business owner (Angel Haven Day Care), published author, ladies' Bible class teacher, life-long learner and a provocative email Bible debater known as "NIB." She has been freed from the physical limitations of time and is now sitting at the feet of her life's devotion.

Mrs. Brock's family will miss her so much and was inspired by her valiant lengthy battle with usual interstitial pneumonia which ended surrounded by family and her beloved dogs SuSu, Butch and Missy.

Eighty-two years ago, on July 25, 1929 Mrs. Brock's life began in Decatur the middle daughter of six children born to Thomas and Rosa McDonald. In 1951 she married Richard Brock and they made a home for their growing family in New Mexico, Georgia, California and Oklahoma, but spent the majority of their lives in Texas.

Mrs. Brock's zest for life and self-improvement prompted her to begin lecturing for Weight Watchers. She held classes in Tulsa, Oklahoma and many of the surrounding rural towns. She helped innumerable women and men gain control over their lives and improve their health. One of the ladies she taught and inspired lost more than 100 pounds.

Mrs. Brock always had a drive to learn and attended college for more than 40 years. Finally while in her 60s, her drive for success caused her to move into a dorm at West Texas A&M where she mentored many of her 18 to 20 year-old dorm mates. She finally completed her Bachelor of
Science degree in academic studies at the age of 64. She always had a love of history and was a valuable addition to her history classes where she provided a "rememberer's" perspective for the younger students rather than simply the objective viewpoint of the textbook. After graduation she did her student teaching in Amarillo public schools and was a substitute teacher for many years in Klein Independent School District in Spring.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years Richard Brock; three daughters Alice Brock Lafferty and husband Charlie of Wills Point, Stacy Brock of Tomball and Diana Brock Dow and husband Daniel of Huntington; a son Brent Brock and wife Adele of Tomball; 12 grandchildren are: Ryan, Nathan, Evan and Robin Montez, Matthew, James, Andrew, Timothy, Jonathan and Benjamin Dow and Brandon and Breanna Brock; a great-granddaughter Everlee Grace Dow; her youngest sister Verma McDonald Long of Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be to spending time with your family over hot cups of coffee particularly with a breakfast at United Supermarkets having a rousing Bible discussion.
