Erwin Glen Brecke passed away at the V.A. Medical Center on August 27, 2008. He was born on April 14, 1924 in Granite Falls, MN to Martin and Paulina (Breuske) Brecke. A widower, he had been married to his wife Margot Joch Brecke for 47 years prior to her passing in 2003. He was known for his loving and dedicated care of his wife for many years and his dedication to his country.
Erwin was retired U.S. Army and served in W.W.II, the Korean War and Vietnam. He was a proud member of the VFW, Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge. He volunteered many hours for these organizations and at the V.A. Medical Center in Reno. Following retirement from the Army, Erwin and Margot moved to Reno in 1978. He worked at the Nevada Club and the Monte Carlo and at Kragen Auto Parts.
Erwin is lovingly survived by his nieces and nephews and their families in Minnesota and Oregon: Alan Embree, Archie Embree, Delores Manner, Shirley Kankmuhs and Mervyn Embree as well as family friends Nancy Brick-Goodman and Dr. Philip Goodman of Reno, and Bruce and Linda Peterson of Minnesota.
Graveside services will take place on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at Sierra Memorial Gardens in Lemmon Valley. Military honors will be rendered by the United States Army. Arrangements are entrusted to O'Brien-Rogers and Crosby Funeral Home, Reno.
