Services for John Cobb, South Ridge rd. farmer, who died Tuesday evening at the Hospital of the Good Samaritan, Watertown will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the home and in the Richland Methodist Church at 2 p.m., Rev. Donald Cobb officiating. Burial will be in Richland in the spring.
Mr. Cobb had been in poor health several months, but was confined to bed less than a week. Born in Pineville Nov. 3, 1876, the son of William and Emma Bentley Cobb, he moved to the Ridge rd. with his family as a child. and in 1925 bought his home from the Jamerson estate.
On Jan. 9, 1901 he married Miss Mary Tillapaugh, daughter of Frederick and Mary Tillapaugh, town of Albion.
A progressive farmer, he devoted his last few years to truck gardening, in addition to maintaining a large dairy farm. He as active in community affairs and was trustee of his school district many years. He was a member of the Sandy Creek grange and belonged to the Richland chapter, IOOF, 45 years. He was also affiliated with the Richland Rebekah lodge.
Surviving besides his wife are four sons, Winfield of Belleville, William and Walter of Lacona and Warren Cobb of Central Square; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Foster Thomas of Orwell.
