Miss Eva C. Belcher, formerly for several years a store proprietor in this city, died siddenly died in the Melrose Hospital last Friday morning. She had undergone an operation for appendicitis and was recuperating when an embolism set in causing death. News of her death was recieved with regret by a large circle of friends.
Miss Belcher was a natice of Lockport, N.S. but practically all her adult life was spent around Boston. She conducted a dry goods store in Melrose Center for several years until two years ago in the location now occupied by Andrews' Market. She also conducted stores in West Medford, Somerville, and Newton in connection with the Melrose store. She had resided in Melrose for 10 years and her home was at 44 Mount Vernon Street.
Miss Belcher was a member of the Pond Fielde Club and the First Baptist Church. She formerly to the Eastern Star in Malden. Surviving her are three borthers, Hubert Belcher of Brookline, Thomas Belcher of Ridgewood, N.J., and Walter Belcher of Dallas, Texas, and three sisters, Mrs. Herbert Stowell of Providence, R.I., Mrs. Walter Hardy of Springfield, and Miss Mary O. Belcher who made who made her home with her in Melrose.
Funeral Services took place in the First Baptist Church on Sunday with numerous relatives and friends attending. Rev. Harold V. Jensen, the pastor, officiated. Burial was in the Wyoming Cemetery and there were numerous beautiful floral tributes.
