John and Mary Etta had only one child: Guy J Beardsley (1893-1956). They opened their home to Mary Etta's niece, Viola E Lamphere, age 15, when Viola's mother died. Mary Etta was sister to Viola's father, Burton Lamphere. Viola lived with them until her marriage in 1928 to Guy W Post.
They all lived on the now named "Guy Beardsley Road", right off of NY County Rd 4 not far from the Prentiss Cemetery where many Beardsley's are buried in Butternuts, Otsego County, NY. The house they lived in was built by John's grandfather, Daniel Beardsley in 1839.
Guy Beardsley was the last of this family line - he never married.
