Karen Mikkelsen
Funeral services for Karen Mikkelsen, 91, Clarkston, Wash., formerly of Valley City, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, March 13 at the Peterson-Olson Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Heidtke officiating. Interment will be held in Memory Gardens late in the spring. She died in Clarkston on March 7, 1987.
Karen Vester was born April 28, 1895, in Denmark, the daughter of Anders and Mathilde Vester. She grew up there and in 1921 married Sigvart Mikkelsen. The couple came to the U.S.A in 1923 and settled in Barnes County, where they farmed. They retired in 1968 making their home in Sanborn. In 1976, they moved to Valley City. Mr. Mikelsen died in the fall of 1976. In 1984 she moved to Clarkston, Washington.
She is survived by a son and a daughter, Ejvin Mikkelsen, Sanborn; and Gudrun (Mrs. Maurice) Sauer, Clarkston, Wash. A sister Bertha Hogenhau in Denmark; and seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and four sisters.
