My Great-Grandfather. Harry was the son of Isaac England, a shoemaker and pioneer settler of Robertson County, Tennessee. His mother was Mary Jane Pike, daughter of John Pike and Sarah Byrd. Harry lost his parents at a young age and was raised by Miles and Lucy Kirby, Miles being a harness-maker and friend of Harry's father, Isaac.
He was a conductor on the Louisville-Nashville Railroad for 12 years, then went into tobacco farming. Later he became a merchant with a local grocery business.
