Howard Cook, 87, of East Syracuse, surrounded by his family, left this heavenly earth to rest with God on September 4, 2012 after a long illness. Howard is survived by three children, Charles Cook and wife Carolyn of MD, Dawn Breed of Newport News, VA, and Darlene Rudy and husband, William of East Syracuse; two brothers, Donald and Robert Cook both of Syracuse; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents. Thelma and Charles Cook, his wife, Phyllis Cook, brother Gary Cook and longtime companion, Lollie Babcock. Howard was a communicant of St. Matthew's Church in East Syracuse. He was a Navy veteran of WW II and a member of the Mattydale VFW 3146 and a former member of the Eastwood American Legion 1276. The family would like to thank the staff of the VA Medical Center for their care and support. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 8:30 a.m. from the Delaney-Greabell-Adydan Funeral Home and 9 a.m. in St. Matthew's Church. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, 241 Kinne St. East Syracuse. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery DeWitt. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Howard's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project 4899 Belfort Rd. Suite 300 Jacksonville, FL 32256 or on line.
