He was a Civil War soldier who enlisted in Co. H, 24th Ind. Regt. but received an honorable discharge from Co. E., 67th Ind. Regt. was in Co. E, 67th Reg., Indiana Infantry, Civil War. W.P.A. records say he died 29 Oct 1918 at age 76, so he was born circa 1842.Obituary says he was born in September, 1842 in Washington Co., IN. He was a member of the Methodist Church and I.O.O.F. # 408.
His 1st wife was Hannah Sewell, with whom he had 6 kids, one of whom was Mrs. John Cooley. His 2nd wife was Sarah Moreland. His 3rd wife was Frances Workinger and 4th wife was Alvira Tidd with whom he had 2 sons, Charley and James. His 2 sisters, Mrs. Alice Moore and rs. Alma Meeks survived him.
