Funeral service for Mose Arthur ALBERTY, 68, life long resident of Westville, was held Friday afternoon, December 26, at 4 o'clock in the Roberts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Howard L. KITCHEN, pastor of the Westville Methodist church and the Rev. L.E. SHANKEL, retired Methodist minister of Westville, officiating. Mrs. George MURRAY and Mrs. Charles BROOKS, accompanied by Mrs. Robert EFFENBERGER, sang, "When They Ring Those Golden Bells," "Beyond the Sunset" and "God Be With You Till We Meet Again." Interment was in the Alberty Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Mr. ALBERTY, a contractor and carpenter for many years, died in the Tahlequah hospital, Tuesday evening, December 23, following a long illness.
He was born April 23, 1890, a short distance from Westville, Indian Territory (now Oklahoma), the son of pioneer parents, Mose and Nancy ALBERTY, who owed the land (later donating it to the town) on which the Westville Schools are located.
He and Miss Mayme DUDLEY, daughter of Calvin and Mollie DUDLEY, were married in the home of her parents in Westville, December 22, 1921, the Rev. THROCKMORTON, pastor of the Methodist church, officiated. The young couple immediately established their home in Westville, where they continued to live and rear their three children.
Honorary pallbearers were; Oliver MATTHEWS, John MCCUISTION, Hayden COLVIN, Luther WADLEY, Jay SMITH, Babe SMITH, DW. BUSHYHEAD, Charlie CAGLE, Lorel SHANKEL, Ernest BUFFINGTON, Neil AKIN, Robert EFFENBERGER. Active pallbearers were, Owen BUFFINGTON, Clyde RATHER, Cecil PATTERSON, Floyd WATERS, Marvin CAGLE and Kenneth MORRIS. Flower bearers were, Sheryl and Marcia BLANTON, Rita Kay and Sammie Jean ALDERSON, Margaret CARMICHAEL and Patsy TILLERY.
He is survived by his wife, Mayme of the home; one son, James ALBERTY of Tahlequah; two daughters, Mrs. H.G. TUCKER of Tulsa; Mrs. W.H. FANNING of Newton, Kansas; one grandson, Kevin TUCKER; two brothers, W.W. ALBERTY and Pete ALBERTY of Westville. (bio by: Glenita Randolph Guthrie)
