Levi married Margaret Ellen Willhide, 3 Sep 1868, at the German Reformed Church in Frederick, MD. They had 4 children all of whom were living as of 1900 (per Margaret's census record):
-Rosa Belle "Rosie" Fitz (1869-1925)
-Charles C. Fitz (b.1870)
-Ely Fitz (Ely was male, dates unknown)
-William Henry "Willie" Fitz (1879-1966)
The Jennie Fitz, age 15, listed on the 1880 census living with Levi, was not his daughter. Jennie was the granddaughter of George Fitz (Levi's brother). George had a son Lester, who was the father of Jennie.
Lived to the age of 97. His adage for longevity: "Early to bed, early to rise, and chewing "Plug" regularly."
Engaged in farming until he retired in 1926 at the age of 82.
Civil War Veteran:
At the beginning of the Civil War, Fitz, a youth of scarcely twenty years, went to Chambersburg and enlisted in Company C of the 67th Union Regiment. He came through the war unscathed despite active service at Petersburg and Sailor's Run under General William Tecumseh Sherman of "march to the sea" fame, and Captain Stark.
Known to have been a mountain man, leaving for extended periods of time to wander wherever he might.
