William E. Austin, Sr., 73, husband of Mrs. Susie Van Horn Austin, died early Saturday at his home near Townsend after an illness of nine years.
Son of John and Mary Austin, he was a lifelong resident of Townsend and is survived, in addition to his widow, by six children, Mrs. Gladys Langrell, of Chester, Mrs. Nellie O'Neal, William E. Austin, Jr., Mrs. Ruth Ivory, Samuel Austin, and Clarence Austin; 12 grandchildren, and one-great grandchild, all of Townsend; a sister Mrs. Mattie A. Van Horn, Townsend; two half-brothers, Walter Van Horn and George Van Horn, Townsend, and two half-sisters, Mrs. Nina Ford and Mrs Margaret Loumas, both of Townsend.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2pm in the Daniels Funeral Home, Townsend. Interment was at Townsend Cemetery.
