“PVT. BAILEY OF COWPENS KILLED IN ITALY ACTION”

Mrs. Preston Bailey of Cowpens has received a message from the war department that her son, Pfc. James D. Bailey, 20, was killed in action while serving in Italy on January 31.

Private Bailey had served overseas for five months prior to his death.

Survivors include his mother; two brothers, Howard and Robert Bailey of Cowpens; and three sisters, Mrs. H. C. Hicks, Jr., and Mrs. Clayton Hannon of Spartanburg and Miss Vernon Bailey of Cowpens
