Hans came to the U.S. by himself in 1881, the Ship Passenger Lists indicate. His wife-to-be, Dairy Maid Maren JENSEN & her sister, Miss Christine JENSEN, came to Minnesota in 1887, on the SS THINGVALLA.
Records state he married his wife, Maren Henrietta JENSEN somewhere in Minnesota, ca. 1890. However, the State of Minnesota says they have no proof of their marriage.
Hans, moved the wife to a small farm NW/o Spencer, in Summitt Twp, Clay, Iowa, where they had 5 children, and then they came back to Minnesota, where they had 3 more children.
By 1910, after having 9 children, only 8 were alive.
Then, they moved to Missouri Valley, Great Bend Twp, Harrison, Iowa where 1 more child, Leonard, was b., and they remained nearby until they both expired.
Hans started working for the C&NW Rlwy in Chicago but was transferred to Missouri Valey, where he continued until he had 22 years of senority. The newspaper recorded Hans having died in Chicago in 1926.
His wife, Maren d. in 1913, and Hans. d. in 1926. Both are buried in the local ROSE HILL MEMORIAL GARDENS CEMETERY with other kin.
