Ralph Avance 1929-1975
On January 2 1929 in the city of Paris, Logan County, Arkansas, Ombra Beatrice Ivy Avance presents her husband William Arthur Avance with their 7th child. This seventh child is the fifth son born to this couple and he is named Ralph Gerald Avance.
Between his birth in 1929 and 1946 Ralph Avance lives a fairly normal life in his home town of Paris Arkansas. In his teenage years there are some minor scrapes with the law which cumulates in his being convicted of a minor crime and giving a choice of jail time or the Army he of course chose the army.
1946 On July 12 Ralph G. Avance age 17 joins the United States Army. Ralph is assigned to occupation duty in Italy.
December 2 1946 Ralph departs New York for Leghorn, Italy.

1949 February 17 after 2 years and 7 months of service Ralph G. Avance is honorable discharged from the United States Army in Fort Bliss, Texas.
1950 After being discharged from the Army in 1949 Ralph Avance heads home to Paris, Arkansas for a visit and then to Oxnard California to join several members of his family and find work. In Oxnard Ralph meets Betty Lou Dearing (Ingle) the daughter of old family friend Icy Romines.
1951 On April 7 Betty and Ralph travel to Quartzside, Arizona to get married. Traveling with Betty (a minor) is her mother Icy Dearing.
December 22 Ralph and Betty's first child Sharon Ann Avance is born in Oxnard, Ventura County, California
1954 Gracing the world with his presents Gerald Wayne Avance (named for his father and John Wayne) is born on April 20th in Oxnard, California to proud parents Ralph and Betty Avance.
1955 On November 1st of this year Betty gives birth to her third child, Zetta Kay Avance (she got the Zetta from great grandma Romines.
1958 the family of Ralph Avance moves from Oxnard, California in Ventura County to the Paramount/Downey area of Los Angles County where Ralph finds a job at the Purex Plant in nearby South Gate California
1959 The 3 oldest of Ralph and Betty Avance's children were born in a rather tight grouping almost 3 and a half years after the third child Zetta Kay was born the 4th child, another girl, named Judy Faye, was born on March 1st of this year .
1961 March Ninth of the year One Thousand Nine Hundred and Sixty One, David Clay Avance the fifth and final child of Ralph and Betty Avance is born in Long Beach, California.
1962 on February 1 of this year Ombre Beatrice Ivy Avance wife of William "Buck" Arthur Avance and the mother of twelve including Ralph dies in her sleep of a heart attack
1962 the summer after his mother dies Ralph takes his family back to Arkansas to see his father in what turns out to be the last trip the Ralph Avance Family makes to Arkansas and the second to last trip Ralph make to his home state.
1964 In October Robert Lee Avance the oldest of the 12 Avance siblings dies of cancer after a long illness. Along with the rest of his brothers and sister Ralph Avance travels back to Arkansas to lay his brother to rest. This The last great trek of the Avance family would be Ralph's last visit home.
1964 to 1975 with the exception of numerous short visits to Las Vegas, Nevada where his in-laws live and a single visit to St. George Utah in August of 1969 for his oldest daughters wedding Ralph would spend the rest of his life in California working to provide for his family.
1975: While at work one day in March, Ralph Avance has his first major heart attack. Ralph drives his self home where his daughter Sharon (Sharon and her husband John Hanna live behind Sharon's parents) calls her mother Betty who is at work and describes Ralph systems. From her office Betty calls Doctor Gary Bliffen the family doctor and then goes home to take Ralph to Paramount General Hospital.
June 9 Ralph lies down on the couch in the living room of his home and tells his family if he makes it through the night he will be okay. That evening he has a second, and this time fatal, major heart attack.

Avance of the home, and 3 daughters Zetta Avance 19 and Judy Avance 16 both of the home; Sharon Hanna 23 and son in law John Hanna 3 grandsons Roger, John David and Joey Hanna all of Paramount Ca. 5 brothers 5 sister and his father Buck Avance.
