Lyda Belle May Kersey, 87, of Sherwood died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009. She was born Oct. 29, 1921, in Stone County, the daughter of John and Jessie May.

On May 14, 1941, she married Lester Milton Kersey and they devoted themselves to rearing six children, first in the rural community of Fox in Stone County and later in Sherwood where the family moved in 1965.

She was known for her unfailing kindness to everyone in every circumstance and her devotion to her wide family. She was a member of Claremont Avenue General Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years; her six children and their spouses; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a special friend.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 22, 2009, at Roller Owens Funeral Home at 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd, North Little Rock. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
