Charles James Lewis, 82, of Bloomsdale died June 23, 2010, at his home. Mr. Lewis was a World War II and Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Air Corps. Born Feb. 1, 1928, in Arcadia, he was the son of the late John James and Mable (Lincoln) Lewis.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Goldie Mae (Henson) Lewis; eight children: Steven James Lewis of Bonne Terre, Charles Ray (Linda) Lewis of Middlebrook, Kathy (John) Penrose of Fayetteville, N.C., Jeffrey (Tammy) Lewis of Bloomsdale, Audie Glen Lewis of Fort Meyers, Fla., Debra (Kris) Vos of Dyer, Ind., Brenda (Tony) Pochon of Fayetteville, N.C. and Johnnie (Dawn) Lewis of De Soto; one brother, Roy Harold Lewis of Middlebrook; 32 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers: Donal Glen Lewis, Paul Lee Lewis and Vernon Edward Lewis; and two sisters: Rosetta Della Cowgill and Silvva Bernice Reagan.
Funeral services were held June 26 at Bryson Funeral Home, officated by the Rev. Howard Casteel and the Rev. Kris Vos. Burial was in the Huff Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Bryson Funeral Home.
