Burton "Burt" Ostby was the son of Bernard and Alice (Olson) Ostby. He was born in Minnesota, but moved with his family to Michigan when he was about 5, after Bernard took a job with Detroit Edison.
Burt had no natural siblings, but was raised with adopted sister Estelle Ostby Leigh, the daughter of Bernard's deceased brother. They considered one another siblings.
Burt was the proud dad of 7: Steve, Sandra, Craig, Lynda, James, Richard, and Karen.
He was a pitcher on the Detroit Tigers farm team from 1950-1954. A broken kneecap ended his run on the team. In his later years, Burt was a member of the Alcona County Amateur Radio group, which is where I got the photo of him in the baseball cap.
Burt was my great-uncle. I have few clear memories of him; the last I saw him was at the funeral of my grandma (his sister), and I understandably remember little about the reunion. But he was a kind and friendly man, and I remember him being quite the jokester. I'm sorry I didn't know him better before he was gone, but I am assured he is well remembered and much loved.
If anyone who knows more about his life wishes to give me more information to put here, or wants to take over this memorial altogether, please let me know. He deserves the best memorial possible.

It was sweet to camp in Harrisville this summer and recall so many fond memories of you, Dad. I visited your grave site along with Grandpa and Grandma's sites near yours. Rest in peace, Love Jynx the Cat|
