Mary Belle Stites, 88, of Shelbyville, IN, died at the Major Hospital in Shelbyville. Born August 13, 1908 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Mary J. Green. She was the widow of George A. Stites. She was an air brush artist and owned and operated the Stites Portrait Co., from 1939-1969 and had worked for Plymate's Laundromat from 1976-1990. She was a member of the Tripoli Card Club, a member of the Burgin Baptist Church and had attended the Evangelical United Church of Christ. Survivors include: one son, William G. Stites, Shelbyville, IN; eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Joanne (Stites) Jones, five brothers, four sisters and one great great grandchild. Funeral services for Mrs. Stites were held Friday, April 25, at the Carmony-Ewing Broadway Funeral Home, in Shelbyville, IN, with Rev. Rod Beheler officiating. Burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Grandchildren: Deborah Jones, Jennifer (Jones) Hardin, Rebecca Jones, Cynthia (Jones) Murphy, Richard W. jr., Robert W., Mary (Jones) Massey, Christina (Jones), Jeremy Jones.
