Birth: Sep. 6, 1856
Wisconsin, USA
Death: Feb. 23, 1888
Faulk County
South Dakota, USA

She was listed as Gena Brewer in the WPA survey, likely taken from notes mis-transcribed years ago. The old plot map confirms her name and placement in the cemetery.

I found her headstone in the middle of an ancient lilac bush on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011. I changed the name and dates today, Nov. 27th, and added the photo.

-Faulk County Times, February 23, 1888

Mrs. Beim, the wife of the merchant at Millard and Mrs. Kimball of 17-119-69 (?- hard to read numbers)are dangerously ill.

-Faulk County Times, March 1, 1888

Mrs. O. N. Beim, who was reported seriously ill in last week's TIMES is dead and buried, although the TIMES is uninformed as to dates.

Ole Nelson BEIM, born in Hafslo, Norway Sep. 7, 1855, emigrated in 1874 and
was 1st married in La Crosse, WI Dec. 6, 1880 to Gina Olsen AAMODT, born in
WI (Vernon Co.?) about 1856. They may have farmed for a short time at
Highland Prairie near Rushford, Fillmore Co., MN, but soon homesteaded at
Cuming, Hughes Co., SD (or in Faulk Co., SD?) where Gina died in childbirth. Then Ole remarried about 1890 to Sarah ELLIOTT, born
in Green Lake Co., WI Oct. 4, 1871. They remained on a farm near Millard,
Faulk Co., SD until moving, apparently about 1897, to Des Moines, Polk Co.,
IA where Ole was a railroader and later an insurance salesman. He retired
in 1922, and Sarah died while visiting relatives in Seattle, WA June 21,
1923. Ole Beim died visiting relatives of his wife's in San Josť, CA Jan.
12, 1937. He had five children, two from his 1st marriage and three from
the 2nd:

a. Alfred Nelson BEIM, born in SD June 29, 1881, died ??, married about 1908
to Edna Ray MARTINETTE, born in NJ Jan. of 1886. She died at Des Moines, IA
Sep. of 1931 and was buried on Sep. 11, 1931 in Des Moines Municipal
cemetery (in a lot purchased by Alfred N. Beim on Mar. 16, 1923 and where is
also buried Edna's mother Kathryn Martinette on Mar. 14, 1923). Strangely
enough Edna's father, Horace B. Martinette, born at Trenton, Mercer Co., NJ
Mar. 13, 1861, died at Des Moines, IA June 25, 1934 and was buried in the
Glendale cemetery in Des Moines, IA! I have not found Alfred's death date
or grave... Alfred was an insurance agent, and they lived at Des Moines,
IA, but Alfred and Edna had no children.

b. Nellie C. BEIM, born in SD March of 1883, was a school teacher and lived
at Des Moines, IA, apparently single. Death date is missing!

Bio from:

The 1910 Faulk Co.plat map shows O.W. Beim (sic) owned the SW 1/4 of section 7 in Pulaski Twsp. This is 1 mile south of the Millard town site. The courthouse records do show Ole N. Beim as the owner.

The marriage of Ole Nelson Beim and Gina Olsen Aamodt was at Our Savior Norske Evanglisk, La Crosse, WI, on 6 Dec 1880. His parents were Nils Kristensen Beim and Kari Kristensen Beim. Her parents were Anders Olsen Aamodt and Ragnhild Olsen Aamodt.

This Gena Aamodt Beim should not be confused with Gina O. Aamodt, daughter of Christopher and Ingeborg Aamodt of Gilman, Pierce Co., WI.
