East County resident Dorothy "Connie" Bates, 84, died Friday, June 20, in Gresham.
A private graveside service was held.
Connie was born Oct. 9, 1923, in Libby, Mont., to Willie and Bessie (Swisher) Conn. They moved to Post Falls, Idaho, where Connie spent her early years. In the late 1930s, they moved to Corbett, where Connie completed high school.
On Nov. 24, 1941, she married Floyd Bates in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
Connie worked as a licensed practical nurse at both Providence Hospital and at the White Shield Home for Unwed Mothers. She retired in the early 1960s.
Connie enjoyed spending time with her family, volunteering and doing arts and crafts.
Survivors include her husband; son, Dennis Bates of Gresham; daughters, Judith Dixson of Portland, Linda Holmstrom of Damascus, and Kathy Norquist of Eagle Creek; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
