Mr. Clarence Bilbrey, age 88 of Smithville, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016 at his residence. He was born May 1, 1927 to his parents, Fletcher and Lula Walker Bilbrey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael David Bilbrey; 6 brothers, Thurman, Luther, Clyde, Haskell, Fred and Dewey Bilbrey and 1 sister, Edna Short. Clarence was a member of the Smithville First Freewill Baptist Church and a self-employed construction worker. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Cola Dean Bilbrey of Smithville; Daughter: June Bilbrey (Bill) Benson of Smithville; Son: Mark (Karen) Bilbrey of Florida; Grandchildren: Franklin (Jenny) Baker, Robin Baker, Jeremy Bilbrey, Brandi Bathon, Dustin Bilbrey, B.J. Bilbrey; 1 Sister: Ethel Blaylock; 1 Brother: Roy Bilbrey; 11 Great-Grandchildren; 3 Great-Great Grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be conducted 11:AM Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Bernard Houk officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 1:30 at Harris Chapel Cemetery in Rickman. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday 4:PM until 8:PM and Wednesday 10:AM until the time of the service at 11:AM. In addition to flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Smithville First Freewill Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society. A complete obituary will be announced on Monday. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
