Oler Adams Sr. was born October 28, 1935, to Lee and Bertha Adams in Lawton, Ok. He attended Douglass Public School. Oler was the youngest of seven children born to Lee and Bertha Adams.

He was known as the family Psalmist. He never took a trip or a drive where you did not hear music or him singing some of his favorite songs. In his early adult years Oler sang bass or baritone for a local quartet group. He also led worship service at the Church of Christ under the direction of Pastor Webb.

Oler was known for his auto mechanic skills. One of his favorite hobbies was working on cars and adding accessories with his own personal fling and flare. It was not uncommon to see cars throughout Lawton that he had modified or rebuilt. Over the years Oler became a grandfather figure to many people within the community. Both young and old referred to him as "Pops" or "PaPa".

His home served as a community meeting ground for all of the community children either walking to the swimming pool, playing football in the field in front of the house, or simply needing somewhere to sleep for the night. Later in life, Oler's favorite past time became driving the streets of Lawton View keeping watch over his family, or sitting under his favorite tree listening to music.

In August, 2014, due to declining health, Oler was hospitalized where he would remain until January 1, 2015, when he was called home to be with the Lord. He is preceded in death by his wife Berding Adams, a son John Stephen Adams by both parents Lee and Bertha Adams, and four siblings LeOla Barkus, Luella Peters, Luvenia Brooks, and Willie Stone

Oler is the loving father of four children: Michelle Adams of Ponca City, Oler Adams Jr. of Lawton, Ok, Berdina Phillips of Lawton, Ok and Detricia Adams-Flye of Lawton, Ok. He is the grandfather of 15 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins other relatives and friends.

Visitation: 5-7pm on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service, 6210 NW Cache Road, Lawton, Ok. Service: 1pm on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at New Life Fellowship 3310 SW 11th St, Lawton, OK. Cemetery: Sunset Memorial Gardens, 8900 NW Cache Road, Lawton, Ok.
