He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WW II and Korea. He was a soldier in the U.S. Army of Occupation -first wave -Japan.
Following the war, he and Kate moved to California where Dick became a Planning Engineer for the Memorex Corporation. He also attended and graduated from College while working as an Engineer.
Following his death in 1975, he was brought home to Moline, Illinois and buried in the Coal Valley Cemetery where Kate now rests beside him (died 1997). Dick's grave is marked by a bronze military plate. See the memorial for Kate for a photo of the couple.
