The passing of Mrs. Amuel Frutchey whose spirit took it's flight at St. Mary's hospital, Saginaw, May 14, following an operation of two weeks previous was more deeply felt in this locality than where the death angel visited, for she was widely known. Deceased spent 41 years of her life in this part of Michigan, and being a woman whose life was in her home, her heart went to mingle with mothers of homes, filling well her mission here. The maiden name of deceased was Lydia Sarah Ettinger born Nov. 7, 1850, at Mt. Bethel, Pa., where she spent her girlhood days. In 1869, she was united in marriage to Amuel Frutchey, who yet survive her. After a few years of married life in her native state, the family moved to Troy Corners, Oakland Co., Mich., spending life on a farm until 1882 when she came to section 1, Kingston twp., taking part in pioneer life for nearly four years when they moved to Deford and entered into mercantile business for a time, then moved to Cass City in the spring 1888, where the elevator of Frutchey & Co. has been since known by all. November, 1921, the family moved to Saginaw on account of business interests where they have since resided. To the union of Amuel and Lydia S. Frutchey, three children were born: Mrs. A. Nettleton of Cass City, Joseph Frutchey of Saginaw, and Herbert Frutchey of Gains, Mich., whom she leaves with her aged companion to mourn for the death. The remains were brought to the home of Mr and Mrs. Ernest Schwaderer, granddaughter and husband, at Cass City where funeral services were held on the 17th conducted by the Rev. W. W. Edwards of Cass City and remains were deposited in the cemetery chapel 'till May 21st when they were removed from Cass City chapel to Oakwood mausoleum at Saginaw, where they now rest. Beside the immediate family she leaves one sister, Mrs. Elmira Stackhouse of Pa., and four brothers, Amos and Jacob Ettinger of Pa., John Ettinger of Detroit and Alex Ettinger of Mt. Pleasant, Mich. Those from afar who were present at the funeral to pay last tribute of respects to the departed were Jacob Ettinger, Amos Ettinger, Daniel Ettinger and Mrs. Aaron Stackhouse, all of Pa., Alex Ettinger, Mrs. Salisbury, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Ettinger of Mt. Pleasant, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Enoch Hess of Pigeon, Mich., Herbert Harris and wife of Detroit., Mrs. Kane and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Maxwell and Mrs. I. Maxwell of New Haven, Mich, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Smith of Greenleaf, Mr. and Mrs. E. Van Conant of Decker, Mable MacKichan and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Weldon of Kingston, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Houghton of Detroit, Samuel Day and wife and Wm. Terry and wife of Fostoria, Mich., Fred Fuller, F. Vavanagh, Mrs. Wm. Murphy and Edward Murphy of Gaines, Mich.
