OBITUARY
Area Resident since 1905, Scott High dies at 82

Services were held at the Pollock Presbyterian Church Tuesday at 2 p.m. for Scott High, 82, an early resident of this area, who was found dead last Thursday at his home in Glenham. He died Tuesday of a heart attack. Although he lived alone at Glenham, Mr. High spent much of the winter here [Pollock, SD] with his daughter, Mrs. Charles Whalen. A farmer in Emmons county northwest of here since 1905, he had lived in Glenham since 1942 when he retired.

Born in Georgeville, Ohio, Nov 2, 1876, he was married to Mary Anna McDonald at Alvin, Ill., in 1905 before coming here. They lived first in a sod house, and Mr. High broke ground with a team and walking plow. Mrs. High died Sept. 12, 1924.

Surviving besides Mrs. Whalen are four other daughters, Mrs. Robert Burington of Trout Creek, Mont., Lilly High of Mobridge (SD), Mrs. Carl Heimbuch of Herreid [SD] and Mrs. Willis Cleveringa of Custer (SD); two sons, Alfie Lee of Portland, Ore., and Marion of Pollock. Twenty grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren also survive. A son Loren died in 1937. All of the children and many of the grandchildren were here for the funeral.

Rev. C.B. Cedar officiated at the services. John Cedar sang a solo, The Old Rugged Cross. What a Friend and Does Jesus Care were sung by a quartet, Kenneth Boff, John Cedar, Mrs. Ernest Jones and Mrs. Woodrow Reierson.

Pallbearers were six grandsons, Ivan High, Duane High, Larry Heimbuch, Kenneth Heimbuch, Delvin Cleveringa and LeRoy Tennant. Burial was in the Dale Cemetery.
