GOWRIE - Kearney Everett Gallentine quietly departed to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, August 16, 2010 in Conway, Arkansas. He was a faithful member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Visitation will be 2 to 3:30 p.m. at Palmer & Swank Funeral Home in Gowrie, Iowa on September 4th with graveside service at the Gowrie Township Cemetery.
Kearney Everett Gallentine, 91 of Conway quietly departed to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday August 16, 2010. He passed away at the home of his daughter & son-in-law, Verlyn & Kathie Scharn.
Kearney was born on February 5,1919 in Farnhamville, Iowa to Oscar E. and Mabel E. Gallentine. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nina Maxine Gallentine of 60 years, two brothers Jerry Gallentine, Earl Gallentine and his sister Gail Bassett. He married Eloise Ramer in January of 2003. After four years of marriage she passed away on June 10, 2007.
He is survived by his children: Judy and son-in-law Jerry Pierce of Richmond, Virginia, Kathie and son-in-law Verlyn Scharn of Conway, Duane Gallentine and daughter-in-law Sandra of Dresser, Wisconsin; stepchildren Vicki & Randall West of Bella Vista, Becky Batey of North Little Rock and Angie & Gary Bates of Conway; grandchildren: Kelly Pierce, Greg Scharn, Jackie Pleskac, Steve Pierce, Kristine Barber, Timothy Gallentine, Erica Gallentine, Adam Gallentine; 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; 1 sister Maxine Knapp of Balsam Lake, Wisconsin and 1 brother Dale Gallentine of Harcourt, Iowa, and numerous nieces and nephews along with many life long friends.
Kearney was a farmer in the Gowrie and Farnhamville, Iowa area from 1942 to January 1963. From that time to retirement, he held employment with several companies.
Kearney and Nina lived in Gowrie, Iowa 34 years, then moved to Conway in 1996. They were active members of the Church of the Brethren in Slifer, Iowa. When they relocated to Conway, they became actively involved with Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where they made so many friends.
