Memorial obituary from Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home. Mary Jane Diver, 83, passed away of natural causes incident to age Thursday, April 27, 2006. She was the only daughter of George H. and Amelia Taylor Davis and was born September 28, 1922 in Brigham City, Utah. Jane, the common name her brothers used, knew at the onset of World War 11 that she should follow lead of her younger brother, George T. into the military. She joined the Marine Corps Women's Auxiliary serving an important role at the Marine Air Station at Cherry Point, North Carolina. Up to the very end she was active in and served in different capacities of that group of Veterans. She married Walter John Diver August 31, 1962 in a beautiful garden setting at her parent's home in Garland, Utah. Although she and Walt had no children of their own, they provided love, understanding and support to many nieces and nephews, providing a much needed stop over point during traditional Disneyland journeys. Mary Jane also was a loving grandmother to Walt's son and daughter, John and Debbi's children. Music played an important role in her life. From early on she was involved in a musical role of one kind or another. At an early age, she bacame an accomplished pianist; from there she loved and played the xylophone with the Bear River High Symphony. She performed solos of all kinds throughout the valley, sang with a very popular quartet for many years and served in the YWMIA as a music specialist. This all came quite naturally since her Mom had the same musical role. She and Walt moved to Westchester, CA from Tremonton in 1967. Walt was quite active in the BPOE, obtaining positions of Exalted Ruler of his lodge, State Vice President and District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler. Mary Jane was very supportive and active as his First Lady in each of these positions. Mary Jane is survived by her husband, Walter, two stepchildren: John Diver, Tulsa, OK and Debbie Diver, Denver, CO; three brothers: George T. (Georgia), Chico, CA, Donald R. (Charlotte), Davis, CA and Paul D. (Carmen), Tremonton, UT; 11 nieces and nephews. Graveside services for the family will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at 10:00 am at the Willard City Cemetery with her brother Paul conducting.
