Janet Ellen Taylor
(August 6, 1915 - August 5, 2011)
Janet Ellen (Lowry) Taylor, 95 was born August 6, 1915 in Henry County Missouri near Calhoun, the daughter of Pirtle Ives Lowry and Martha Lucinda (Funk) Lowry.
She left this life August 5, 2011, the day before her 96th Birthday, at Colonial Springs Nursing Home.
She granduated from Winsor High School in 1933.
On January 31, 1935 she married George Leonard Taylor in Winsor Mo. He preceded her in death on April 21, 2001. 5 Children were born of this union. 3 of whom survive her.
They spent the last 41 of their 66 years of marriage in Dallas County, moving here in 1960, settling down in the Long Lane area.
While the children were young she stayed home. She helped D.A. Mallory wtih the cemetery records and also worked a short time as a waitress at a local resturant. Later she worked for Don W. Owensby, Attorney. Retiring in 1978. While working for Don she ran and served as Public Administrator from 1969 to 1980.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved taking care of family and helping anyone she could. She enjoyed drawing, painting, sewing, quilting, and reading.
She was a member of the Charity Christian Church and C.W.F..
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband George, a twin brother John Lowry, a daughter Virginia Cheek, and infant son David and a grandson Todd Taylor.
Those left to mourn her passing are 3 sons: Don and wife Barbara of Long Lane; Dan and wife Stella, Ray and wife Thelma all of Buffalo. A son-in-law Loyd Cheek of Utica, Kentucky. 8 Grandchildren: Brenda Garrison and husband Randy of Urbana; Terry Taylor of Elkland; Tracy Taylor and wife Tomi of Waynesville; Toby Taylor of Basehor Kansas; Travis Taylor of Buffalo; Jennifer Turner of Kansas; Becky Albertson of Lawerence Kansas; and Jeff Taylor of Buffalo.
8 Great Grandkids and several nieces, nephews and other family members and friends who will greatly miss her.
Funeral Service were at Graveside Wednesday August 10, 2011 at 10 A.M. in the Wollard Cemetery with the Rev. David Stotts Officiating. Under the direction of Montgomery-Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo, MO.
