Christian Strauss was born to Abraham and Magdalena (Zimmerman) Strauss in Oberstocken, Bern Switzerland. He married Rosina Frick in 1872 in Switzerland. They came to New York in 1883 with their six children, then made their way to Wisconsin where they had five more children. Christian and Rosina's eleven children are: Christian Strauss, Gottfried or Godfrey Strauss, Frederick Strauss, Rosina S. (Strauss) Legler, Bertha Strauss, Elizabeth H. (Strauss) Pengra Huggler, Caroline (Strauss) Morris, twins: John Antone Strauss and Samuel William Strauss, Edward William Strauss, Ernest Henry Strauss. Christ was a carpenter and a dairy farmer. He died at the Clark County Insane Asylum. He was probably a resident because of dementia. Gravestone says Vater which means Father.
