LOWELL, MA -- Sgt. James E. "Jim" Bellerose II, 40, died unexpectedly Wednesday, November 9, 2011, in Florida from injuries sustained in a car accident.
Born in Lowell on May 12th 1971, Jim was the beloved son of Susan (Whelton) Silva and the late James Bellerose. He was educated in Lowell and a graduate of the Greater Lowell Voc. Tech. class of 1990. He was a Greater Lowell All Star 3 times. He played with Noreastors and won the MVP award as the running back.
For 19 years, Jim served his country proudly as part of the US Army. He served overseas in Kosovo with his nephew Corey Phomveha for 18 months, one year in Iraq and one year in Afghanistan. He was a true hero is his family's eyes and everyone who knew him.
For 13 years, Jim worked as a correctional officer for the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley, MA.
Jim was an avid Patriots fan but his life was dedicated to his family. He loved and lived for his boys and could be found coaching a baseball game or just hanging around and playing catch with them. He loved his children more then anything and has left a permanent imprint on their hearts forever.
Jim is survived and will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Leanne (Corbett) Bellerose, his three cherished sons, James III, 19, Eric J., 13, and Matthew, 6, all of Lowell; his mother and stepfather, Susan and Thomas Silva of Dracut; two sisters, Donna M. Bellerose and her husband, Joe Cloud of MA, and Kelly Bellerose of Lowell; his nieces and nephews, Sandy, Corey, Courtney, John Jr., Erin and Katelyn; and two great-nephews, Corey and Cole.
He is also survived by his aunt, Rose McKenzie and aunt, Linda and uncle, Arthur Bellerose; as well as several cousins, many friends, and especially his brothers in arms, and the Rodriquez Family.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Clarence and Claire (McDonald) Whelton, and his paternal grandparents, Donald and Helen Bellerose.
BELLEROSE -- Relatives and friends were invited to pay their respects on Monday, November 14th from 3-8 p.m. at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., and burial followed at St. Patrick's Cemetery, also in Lowell.
