Everette Russell "Pete" Boone passed to his reward on December 21,2012.
Known to family and friends since childhood as "Pete", he was 91 years of age, born in McAlester, Oklahoma, he was the youngest of 10 children. Only five of the children, all boys, lived to adulthood. Pete's mother died when he was only nine years old and he was raised by his brothers. During his high school years, he interned in his oldest brother Daniel's barber shop to receive the state barber's license. At the start of World War II, he volunteered with the Navy Seabees and was given a barber rating, serving about four years at Port Hueneme in Southern California.
He married his Oklahoma sweetheart, Julia Elaine "Judy" Tanner, February 7, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri, and they settled in California, where they enjoyed life together for 69 years.
Pete worked as a welding foreman at Mare Island Naval Shipyards in Vallejo, retiring after 32 years. He was an avid jokester with a pronounced sense of humor. He enjoyed gardening all year long and was either preparing the soil or planting the season's vegetables, which he enjoyed sharing with everyone.
He and Judy have been active in Southern Baptist churches throughout their marriage. Pete was ordained as a deacon over 50 years ago, serving as needed.
He is survived by his loving wife,Judy; son,Larry Everette (wife,Mari); daughter,Beverly Elaine Dick; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He donated his body to the University of Davis Medical School for doctors in training.
Memorial services were held at First Baptist Church of Fair Oaks on Saturday, January 12, 2013.

I can not look at the smiling face of Pete Boone without hearing his voice quote the 23rd Psalm.
Just as he shared vegetables from his garden---he shared his love for our Lord "so that we might be reunited in heaven forever!"
