Harold D. Foley, 74, Valley Falls, died Sat., Nov. 1, 2008, at a Topeka hospital. He was born Feb. 27, 1934, at St. Joseph, MO, the son of Paul C. and Mary Alice Owens Foley. He graduated from Valley Falls High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Alaska. Harold was a regional manager for Western Electric and later AT&T, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Coal Creek United Methodist Church. He was president of Brown-Atchison Rural Electric Cooperative and a director of District 7 of the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation. He was a 50 Year member of Masonic Lodge No. 236 A.F. & A.M. at Meriden, the Topeka Scottish Rite Bodies and also the Arab Shrine A.A.O.N.M.S. in Topeka. He was honored as 2004 Arab Noble of the Year and was also the 2008 Arab Shriner of the Year. He married June E. Reichart on Sept. 12, 1959, at Valley Falls. She died on Sept. 26, 1995. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul E. Foley. Survivors include two daughters, Kelly D. (Roger) Elsbury, Topeka, and Karen D. (Mark) Yokley, West Hills, CA; companion, Lanie Byrd, Topeka; a brother, Charles A. Foley, Valley Falls; a sister, Ida Taliaferro, Effingham; and two grandchildren, Curt (Katie) Elsbury, and Daniel Elsbury, both of Lawrence. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, at the Coal Creek United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the Coal Creek Cemetery with a Masonic Service and also military honors conducted by Grahem-Herbers Post 3084, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
