OBITUARY FROM ALLIANCE TIMES HERALD, 3 JANUARY 1950:
IRA WRIGHT FUNERAL SET, LOCAL MAN FOUND DEAD IN CAR SUNDAY:
Ira Wright, prominent Alliance businessman, died by his own hand sometime Sunday morning according to Wade H. Ellis, Box Butte County attorney who acted as coroner in the investigation. Ira Wright and his brother for many years owned and operated the Wright Bros. Implement Co. in Alliance. About a year ago they sold part of their interest in the firm to John T. Mains and associates. Recently Mr. Mains became ill and was unable to continue as manager of the firm, the Plains Implement and Motor Co, and he disposed of his interests to the Wright brothers again. Mr. Wright was a native of Alliance. He was born here Oct. 8, 1897 and had lived here all his life. He was married at Alliance on Oct. 22, 1918 to Maud M. Fleming, who is a survivor. The couple had no children. Other survivors are three brothers and a sister. The brothers are A.S. Wright, Alliance; Charles Wright and Ellis Wright, Omaha. The sister is Mrs. Perry Davidson, Redwood City, Calif. Mr. Wright was a member of the Alliance Chamber of Commerce, the National Auto Dealers Ass'n and the Midwest National Implements Ass'n. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Episcopal Church with Reverend Harold Shay, minister. Burial will be at the Alliance cemetery with the Landa Funeral Home in charge. The family announced today that Mr. Wright will lie in state at the Landa Funeral Home chapel from 10 a.m. today until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Friends wishing to pay their respects can do so during that time.
