Joseph John Kujawa
(July 25, 1934 - February 20, 2011)
Joe Kujawa passed away Sunday, February 20, 2011. Joe was born in Bremond, Texas on July 25, 1934 to Vincent and Magdalin (Knapik) Kujawa. Her resided in Houston, TX, working for Centre Point Energy from 1956 to 1996. When he moved to Georgetown to retire, Joe was well known as a Fiddle player and a singer. He traveled with members of his band playing country music for weddings and dances. He was a member of St. Helen's Catholic Church where he was active as an acolyte, a Eucharistic minister, visiting the homebound and nursing homes until Alzheimer's disease brought his activities to an end. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Joe is survived by his devoted wife, Gillian, whom he married in 2002; his son, Sean and his wife Sally of Holland; his 3 grandchildren; two sisters, Joan and Helen; his two brothers, Tony and John; his loving stepdaughters, Jayne and Angi; along with several nieces and nephews and other loving friends.
Joe was lovingly cared for by the wonderful staff at The Lodge at Rocky Hollow in Georgetown.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Helen's Catholic Church on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at 10:00AM. Interment will follow at IOOF Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made in Joe's name to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude's Foundation.
