Macel (Maisie) was the only child born to Augustus Green and his wife Bertha DuBois Green, who died when Macel was a young girl. As an adult, Macel moved to Washington, D.C. and held many jobs within government organizations. She married Albin Max Emler, Jr in 1926. They had one child, a son John Dubois Emler, born in 1927.
