Housing Developer. Founding partner of the Hubbell Group. A native Detroiter and a track and cross country athlete at Detroit Catholic Central, he received a bachelor's degree in political science from Michigan State University. He went to work for the city of Detroit during the administration of Mayor Coleman A. Young at the Department of Parks and Recreation and Department of Planning. Under Mayor Dennis Archer he rose to deputy director of the civic center, before going to work for Crosswinds Communities. It was at this time that his dreams of revitalizing the city of Detroit began to form. He started his own firm and, in 1999, developed the Canfield Lofts, thus heralding an era of loft development encompassing the downtown, mid-town and medical center areas. In addition to being appointed to the Michigan Land Use Leadership Council by Governor Jennifer Granholm, he also taught urban redevelopment at the University of Detroit Mercy. He died of complications of bladder cancer. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, Patricia; his children, Kelsey, Devin, Miles and Alana; his parents, Alan and Mary, three brothers and a very grateful Detroit business, political and non-profit community. His brother David preceded him in death.
