William Teal Allen COLUMBUS, GA — William Teal Allen, 86, of Columbus, GA died at The Medical Center of Columbus, GA Saturday, February 21, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 in the Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel with Reverend Dan Gates officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Clarence Allen, Brent, Brad and Blake Taylor, Fred Weekley, Nicholas Brown and John Darr. Burial with military honors will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Allen was born in Lato, AL son of the late William Robert and Callie Carden Allen. He was a WWII and Korean Conflict veteran and served in the U.S. Army (Infantry) for 20 years, retiring in October 1960. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion, Post 35 where he served as a past Commander. He was a charter member of the Fish House Gang. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his four brothers, Cody, Earnest, James and Charles Allen, and his five sisters, Gertha Allen, Ada Stripling, Susie Clyde Houston, Frances Duren, Georgia Stanley, and Mary Heinrich. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Christine Kelley Allen; two daughters, Sandy Taylor and Pat Weekley and her husband, Fred; one brother, Clarence Allen and his wife, Faye; three grandsons, William Brent, Bradley Aiken, and Blake George Taylor and his wife, Kieley; one great-grandson, Aiken Taylor; numerous nieces and nephews.
