Elsia Jane Atkins, 91, Pullman Homemaker
PULLMAN Elsia Jane Atkins, 91, a longtime Pullman homemaker, died of causes related to age Friday at Pullman Memorial Hospital. She had been a patient the past week.
She was born June 22, 1899, to William and Mary Ann Weir at Knob Noster, Mo. She attended school at Warrensburg, Mo., and in 1914 moved to Pullman. She married Fred LeRoy Atkins Dec. 19, 1925, at Colfax. He was a store clerk at Washington State University and died Dec. 30, 1965. The past five years she had lived in Moscow and Spokane. She was a member of the Pullman Senior Citizens, the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and Mary Ann's Women's Group. She also enjoyed crocheting.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly J. Swenson of Deer Park, Wash.; two sisters, Nora Kite and Liz Wood, both of Moscow; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Seven brothers and sisters and a grandson died previously.
The funeral is scheduled at 11 a.m. Monday at the Kimball Funeral Home at Pullman with Claude Duty officiating. Burial will follow at the Pullman City Cemetery. The family suggests memorial be sent to the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
