Funeral Services For Wesley Dees Held In Norman
Services for Wesley R. Dees, a former resident of the Carnegie community, were held at 3 p.m. Friday at the Primrose funeral chapel in Norman, with Rev. Desner, pastor of the McFarland Methodist church, officiating. Burial was in the IOOF cemetery, north of Norman.
Dees, a farmer in the Pleasant View community northeast of Carnegie for many years, died Thursday, July 16, in the Norman municipal hospital after an illness of a month.
He was born August 25, 1890, to Mr. and Mrs. Sampson Dees at Correnth, Miss. When a small boy he and his parents moved to DeQueen, Ark., where he later met and married Miss Amanda Teel. Three sons were born to them. They came to the farm near Pleasant View and remained there until 1934. They moved to a farm three and a half miles west of Norman where they lived until he retired in December, 1954. He and Mrs. Dees moved to Moore where he resided until his death.
He was preceded in death by one son, Winfred, his parents, six brothers and three sister. His brother, Jess Dees, died June 5 of this year.
Surviving him are his wife, Amanda of the home; two sons, James R. and Burt B. Dees, both of Norman, and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Millwee, Carnegie, and Mrs. Calline Shelton, Benecia, Calif., and five grandchildren.
