  LOA, Utah — Our kind and beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, Reed Bastian Brian, age 87, of Loa, died March 23, 1996 in Gunnison, Utah.
  He was born June 12, 1908 in Loa, Utah, a son of Hyrum Dudley and Julia Jacobena Bastian Brian. He married Marjorie White, October 10, 1934 in Bicknell, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple October 10, 1945. She died October 19, 1993. Reed was an active member of the LDS Church. He and his wife served as temple ordinance workers in the Manti LDS Temple for seven years. He was active in community affairs in Wayne County, serving as County Commissioner and as District Scout Chairman. He supported the Boy Scouts of America and was actively involved in that organization. He was a rancher, farmer, and sheepman. Reed was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and will be deeply missed.
  He is survived by his children, Julia and Elwood Sorenson, Axtell, Utah; Emily and David Lee, Boulder City, Nevada; Dudley and Beverly Brian, Stanley and Lois Brian, Robert and Edra Brian, Harry and Dawna Rae Brian, Debbie and Bobby Edwards, all of Loa; Pam and Russell Peterson, Sheila and Sherrill Torgerson, all of Lyman; Michele and Dale Coates, Washington, Utah; 45 grandchildren, 79 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, Reed Junior Brian; one grandson, three great-grandchildren; four brothers, Rex, Dolan Arthur, and Hyrum Brian.
  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 27, 1996 at 1 p.m. in the Loa LDS Stake Tabernacle. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m. and at the church in Loa, Wednesday from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Loa Cemetery.
