Mr. William Jerome King, 73, died Saturday (February 2, 2002) in Pierce County Nursing Home following an lenghty illness.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Ware County. He was son of the late Joseph E. King and Thelma Booth King.

He was retired from Spatola Footwear and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. King served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of DAV.

The survivors include his wife, Betty J. King of Waycross; three daughters, Virginia Bennett (husband Donny) and Diane Corbett (husband Jerry) both of Waycross, Joann Joyce (husband Donnie) of Blackshear; three sisters, Beatrice Cox (husband Ferrell) and Delores Lee (husband Tommy) both of Waycross, Doris Gloy (husband Jeff) of Darien; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Monday night from 6 until 8 o'clock.
