Obituary of Edward Nidey. 9 August 1935, Hutsonville Herald.

Edwin Nidey, 63, a farmer living near Gordon. Mr. Nidey lived on the Clyde Mann farm southeast of Gordon. He is survived by his wife, two sons and three daughers.

The funeral service was held Monday afternoon at the Bailiff Church with burial in the Bailiff Cemtery.

Edward Nidey, son of Mathias and Nancy Jane Nidey, was born in Clark County, Illinois, February 19, 1876. He was the third child of a family of nine children. He grew to manhood, and lived most of his life in the old neighborhood west of West York. He moved to the vicinity of Robinson some three years ago, living near Gordon at the time of his death, which occurred August 3, 1935. His age, at the time of his death, was 59 years, 5 monts, and 14 days.

He was united in marriage to Miss Clara Ralston November 8, 1896. To this union were born six children, one son Randall, preceeding him in death. He leaves as survivors the devoted companion, five children, Russell Nidey of Trimble, IL, Mrs. Lottie Guyer of West York, IL, Mrs. Zola Evans of West York, IL, Mrs. Beulah Gurley of Hutsonville, IL, Howard, the youngest son, at home sixteen grandchildren, and the following named brothers and sisters: T. V. Nidey of Springfield, CO, Mathias Nidey of Estancia, New Mexico, Chalkley Nidey, of West York, IL, John Nidey of Williamsburg, Iowa, Mrs. ------------ West York, IL and Mrs. Oma Stanfield of McPherson, Kansas. In addition there are a number of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

He became a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church about 1892. For the last few years, he had taken special interest in the work of the church near his home.

Kindness to neighbors and friends are the outstanding characteriestices of his life.

Funeral services were held at the Bailiff church near West York, Monday, August 5, officiated by Eld. G. A. Fuson of Fairbnaks, IN, assisted by Elders T. J. Wheeler and Ben Starwalt, with burial in the cemetery near by.
