Gaines N. Linkous, 95, of Route 2, died Sunday morning in Hawkins County Memorial Hospital.
He was a member of the Big Creek Baptist Church, was retired farmer, and left 90 living descendants.
He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Leana Davis, Kingsport, Mrs. Irene Rouse, Rogersville, Mrs. Sybil Nelms, Surgoinsville, Mrs. Edna Chapman, Whitesburg; 4 sons, Jack, Surgoinsville, Glenn and Bert, both of Surgoinsville, and Earl Linkous, Kingsport; 32 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Mary Chess, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Linkous, both of Kingsport.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon from the chapel at Colboch-Price Funeral Home with the Rev. Dana Bentley and the Rev. Eugene Houseman officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.
